Discover Étel and its ria
Étel, c’est d’abord une petite ville posée au bord de l’eau. Cette ancienne conserverie, dont le musée des Thoniers retrace l’histoire, est un port animé avec des fest-noz et concerts gratuits tout l’été, et un cadre très agréable pour boire un verre tourné vers la mer.
L’attrait touristique des lieux doit aussi au paysage très singulier de la ria d’Étel, tout autour de cette commune du Gulf of Morbihan. Ce bras de mer de 22 km débute par la barre d’Étel, spectaculaire avancée de sable balayée par les vents, et pénètre dans les terres par une rivière soudain très paisible.

De part et d’autre de la ria se succèdent des sites offrant un panorama époustouflant. Au sémaphore d’Étel, donnant directement sur l’île de Groix, on peut admirer les prouesses des kitesurfs depuis une immense plage. Remontez d’à peine quelques minutes sur le versant ouest et vous voici au Magouër, quartier historique de Plouhinec. La plage est ici intimiste et abritée, avec une petite profondeur d’eau limpide.
Admirez l’étonnant cimetière de bateaux et la villa gallo-romaine de Mané-Vechen, puis poursuivez vers l’emblématique pont Lorois et l’anse de Port Niscop. Arrive ensuite le clou du spectacle : Saint-Cado à Belz, et sa célèbre petite maison aux volets bleus posée au milieu d’une eau aux couleurs pastel face aux Îles Morbihannaise.

The water activities There's no shortage of activities in Étel, whether you're looking for the thrills of kitesurfing or the peace and quiet of a kayak trip in the ria. It's also the perfect environment for hiking, with easy-to-access signposted trails, for example at Saint-Cado or between Étel and Erdeven.
Megalithic sites to see near Étel
Erdeven is a commune to remember if you enjoy cultural and historical visits. You can walk among the 190 menhirs of the Kerzerho alignments and admire some huge specimens! This is just one of the many sites on this "megalithic coast", as not far away are the famous Carnac alignments and the no less remarkable Crac'h alignments, offering a great outdoor family activity.
Quiberon Bay
Étel lies at the western end of the Quiberon Bayrecognised as one of the most beautiful in the world. All around you are superb beaches interspersed with caves and wild coves. There's something magical about Quiberon, set at the very end of the peninsula facing Belle-Île. We love it for the beauty of its period villas as much as for its hiking trails.
Plouharnel is less popular, yet the commune echoes its neighbour, Carnac, with both interesting megaliths and long beaches perfect for board sports. Just next door, La Trinité-sur-mer is a big draw for sailing enthusiasts, with a harbour that has an excellent reputation.
